CAMP HILL, April 15, 2011 - A Middletown Woman has settled her Federal Civil Rights Lawsuit against the Middletown Borough Police Department and the Dauphin County Drug Task Force. In 2008 Deanna Perry was forced to sit partially naked on a stool as Middletown Borough Police and members of the Dauphin County Drug Task Force performed an early morning search of her home. During the search officers found intimate pictures Mrs. Perry had taken for her husband. The officers made crude comments and laughed at Mrs. Perry and the pictures. One of the pictures was placed in the front window of her home where it was visible to passersby. Also posted in the window was a bumper sticker saying "Busted...Say No to Drugs". All charges against Ms. Perry were ultimately dropped.
Dennis E, Boyle, Esquire, a partner at Boyle, Autry & Murphy, stated "This case was never about money. It was about making sure that the rights of all citizens are protected. I hope the individuals involved in this incident have learned from their mistakes and that other people in Middletown will not be subjected to this type of treatment." The Settlement of $100,000 will be paid by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General on behalf of the Dauphin County Drug Task Force and the Borough of Middletown on behalf of the Middletown Police Department.
