After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University, Megan Schanbacher attended Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston Salem, North Carolina, before returning to Pennsylvania to begin her legal career. While at Penn State, she majored in Crime, Law and Justice, and was on the Dean's List every year. It was while attending Penn State that Ms. Schanbacher developed a strong interest in the representation of individuals charged with crimes.

Ms. Schanbacher's academic success continued at Wake Forest, where she received a Helms Scholarship, a Goldberg Scholarship and was selected as a staff member of the Wake Forest Law Review. While a member of the law review, she wrote an article analyzing the detention of foreign nationals by U.S. military forces at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan. She also participated in a number of legal clinics focusing on criminal defense and was an intern with the Mecklenburg County Public Defender's Office in North Carolina.

Since joining Boyle, Autry & Murphy, she has served as counsel in several high profile federal cases, as well as a number of other federal and state trials. She has also represented a U.S. citizen detained by military authorities in Afghanistan, obtaining his return to the United States. She is an active member of both the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

When not practicing law, she enjoys Penn State Football, soccer, reading and photography.
